The present report contains a detailed description of the by BMVIT supported and promoted project. CLOSE TO Accident prevention through lectures given by young accident drivers - Permanent consolidation of an objective achieving prevention method in the fields of education of the Federal States of Austria. Using the CLOSE TO-method, an innovative approach for driver’s education was developed and tested, which did not set its primary attention on cognitive learning but focused on emotional learning and learning by understanding. All necessary legal foundations for the participation of young accident drivers have been developed, worked out and put to use in two predecessor projects. The consolidation and application of this method beyond driver’s education onto further areas of education (apprenticeship, basic military service) appears advisable and expedient. A permanent consolidation of the CLOSE TO-measure in Austria requires the sustainable security and assurance of all assigning authorities as well as the development of a standardised procedure for the structured organisation and handling in order to optimal manage the extensive cooperation. A summary at the beginning of the report provides an overview of the contents and problems as well as the overall results of the project. The description of the designated challenges and the aimed objectives leads over to the description of the steps of procedure and work packages. An evaluation of the process along with the quantitative and qualitative achievement of the objectives completes the present report.
