The aim of this code of practice is to set out the minimum precautions that must be taken and the control measures to be applied to avoid injury to health from ionising radiations in the transport of radioactive materials by road. The code is in 4 parts. Part A contains provisions of general application which affect everybody. It includes: a) scope of certain interpretations, b) prohibitions, and c) exempted classes of articles, packages or consignments. Part B deals with the particular responsibilities of consigners, including the limits on contents, external radiation, and contamination of packages, as well as the labelling, marking, and sealing of packages. Part C deals with the responsibilities of carriers, and part D covers the responsibilities of drivers.
