Samenvatting

Cold recycling has been a significant development for many years in several industrial countries. In France this process was introduced in 1982. This paper describes the project design and the construction process as well as the field performance of cold recycling in-situ. Careful project selection is extremely important. Based on the history of the pavement, the project is divided into design areas of uniform properties and samples from each area are obtained. Tests are performed by the laboratory on recycled asphalt pavement millings. Results from these tests are used to estimate the optimum design emulsion content and the type as well as the grade of the rejuvenating agent. The construction construction method is as follows: the recycled asphalt mixes are obtained from the old pavement by cold milling and laid along a windrow. The millings are collected, sieved and mixed with an emulsion based rejuvenating agent and finally laid using a screed all in one process. After laying and rolling the cold recycled material, a thin wearing course made of a new hot mix or surface dressing is often applied. This process is well adapted to the rehabilitation of medium trafficked roads. (A) The German title of this article is: Wiederverwendung von Asphalt in Kaltbauweise.
