Samenvatting

Debilitating leg injuries are a common outcome of motorcycle accidents, yet debate over the potential benefits and hazards of providing "leg protection space" on motorcycles continues. Detailed reconstruction of motorcycle accidents reveals actual collision performance of contemporary crashbars and motorcyclist leg injury mechanisms. Crashbar design, collision performance and the relation to leg injuries were determined.
