Samenvatting

The overemphasis of alcohol as a causal factor is considered and other contributing factors to accidents are pointed out: driver's feelings and attitudes, poor vision, age and experience, road and weather conditions, time of day, sickness and diseases, and socio-economic and cultural factors. It is concluded that one cannot direct countermeasure efforts at drinkers in general if it is not drinkers in general who comprise the problem.
