Samenvatting

Interviews with drivers and questionnaires answered by elderly pedestrians proved an adequate knowledge of safe and considerate behaviour of pedestrian crossings. The pedestrian crossings guarded by traffic lights obviously convey a strong feeling of security. Traffic regulated by a policeman is regarded somewhat safer than traffic lights. Elderly people see no difference of security between the crossing of a road with and without a pedestrian crossing.
