Samenvatting

Different brake light devices were compared in order to determine whether it is possible to increase passenger safety in car- following situations. Three systems were tested. The assumed increase in safety was expected to lead to a decrease in driver reaction time and deceleration peak value and to an increase of inter- vehicle intervals, which were therefore measured. The experiment was conducted on a busy road, using two specially equipped cars driven by the subjects.
