Samenvatting

The purpose of this paper is to compare the responses of both rear impact dummies and the Hybrid II for various test conditions. The results of these tests show that both rear impact dummies are capable of stimulating rear impact responses, especially the head-neck kinetics. The dummies both showed differences in reacting with the seat back and there was also a difference in load patterns. The research finds that the Hybrid II dummy was not designed for rear impact and should not be used as such.
