Samenvatting
In both Great Britain and the Federal Republic of Germany the number of deaths from road accidents has tended to decrease from the beginning of the 1970s. The annual number has, however, remained roughly twice as great in the Federal Republic as in Great Britain and only a proportion of the excess is accounted for the increased population and extra vehicle distance travelled in the Federal Republic. A collaborative pilot project was initiated to compare the levels of safety in both countries. The study is described briefly and some conclusions are presented.
