Samenvatting

In both Britain and the Federal Republic of Germany the number of deaths from road accidents has tended to decrease considerably over the last decade or more from the peak reached at the beginning of the 1970's. A collaborative project has been initiated to compare the levels of safety the Federal Republic and in Britain. By drawing upon available or easily obtainable information the study develops a practicable and financially feasible research approach to the comparison of road safety in the two countries. The comparisons are aimed at the formulation of hypotheses concerning the reasons for differences between the two countries.
