Samenvatting

In the course of normal ageing, percepto- motor processing and performance often become slower. in theory this leads to increased divided attention deficits and resulting higher risk in time- pressed everyday activities such as traffic participation. It has been suggested that the elderly compensate for impaired percepto- motor function by adapting their traffic behaviour. The aim of this study was to investigate compensation, both in terms of actual strategies used and in terms of the resources of compensatory potential still available to elderly drivers.
