Samenvatting

The composite network is defined as' all combinations of possible future links superimposed over the existing arterial network of a region with access points provided between the two layers of networks. Composite networks require less detail in coding link nodes and allow the net- work configurations to be changed without intruducing errors into the process. An unlimited number of network configurations is provided, each configuration of which can be made available for traffic assignment within a two to four hour period. Composite networks also take maximum advantage of abbreviated coding techniques and eliminate much of the posting time required in preparing coding maps for a normal network coding operation.
