Samenvatting

The concept of a Comprehensive Intelligent Transportation System (CITS) is put forward in this paper. The system is based on modern telecommunication network, including mobile communication system. By the network, each of mobile vehicle with intelligent device, such as cars, taxis, buses, trucks, train, underground, airplanes etc. can exchange data with its control center. It is a comprehensive system including demand investigation collection, plan, dispatch, management, statistics, supervision and control etc. Therefore, it can be implemented that in a city, or an area, people flow and goods flow are in a sequence state, supported by data flow. A CITS can be divided into the two subsystems: City Intelligent Transportation System (CITYITS) and Area Intelligent Transportation System (AREAITS). The CITS consists of several city intelligent transportation systems and area intelligent transportation systems. The configuration of CITS, CITYITS and AREAITS and its related technique issues are described. In fact, a CITS could describe the future world. In the future, there are only three flows: passenger flow, goods flow and data flow. No matter what kind of transport means you use, rail, air, highway, ship, pipe and communication network, the final purpose of transportation system is to implement displacement in a safe, fast, comfortable and cheap way, for people, freight and data. This is the core concept of modern intelligent transportation. For the covering abstract see ITRD E209471.
