Samenvatting

The CANPS-R is proposed in this paper in order to support area-wide traffic restraint planning in residential areas, and its validity is examined through its applications to the Sekime District in Osaka. The output of this system is found to be useful as parametric information of alternative plans. As an outcome of application study, one type of best traffic restraint principle can be described. That is a combination of creating a pedestrian network by Community Streets and protecting neighbourhood units by road humps.
