Samenvatting

Methods and procedures are descrided which edit origin and destination data, reduce the time and effort involved in correcting errors, code origins and destinations of a trip to a block within a survey zone, identify the land use at each end of the trip, code other locations such as residence , garaged, parked, and intermediate stop, compute expansion factors, produce factored trip cards on magnetic tape in standard format, simplify the management of larger volumes of data that heretofore have been impractical to process, reduce the time involved in producing trip cards, require a much smaller editing staff, and provide flexibility of data so comparability to previous zone structures can be easily performed, using a series of computer programs. Also included are the results of successes and failures experienced in attempting to identify and code origins and destinations and the investigations of processing on a remote computer in a distant city through the use of teleprocessing equipment to test the practicality of remote operation by isolated users.
