Samenvatting

A comprehensive computer program has been developed as a design aid in order to establish the direction to safer automobile interior designs. Until complete accident statistics and biomedical data to allow occupant injury evaluation are included in the program, preliminary evaluations are possible through analysis of the occupant forces, velocities, decelerations, and energies. Development of the computer program and its application in the design of automobile interiors is discussed. An outline of a basic experiment which investigates the effects and interactions of six primary vehicle parameters is also presented.
