At the conference "Road Safety Europe" held in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, September 21-23, 1998, one of the themes was "The role of advanced technology for enhanced safety". Five of the papers presented within this framework were: Telephone use while driving and traffic safety (Brühning, E.); The effectiveness of ATT and non-ATT treatments for sharp curves on two-lane rural roads (Comte, S. and Carsten, O.); Expert evaluation of driver assistance systems with respect to traffic safety (Färber, B. and Färber, B.); ITS - safety-related driver assistance systems (Albus, C., Friedel, B. and Sander, K.); Prediction of safety impacts of non-existing ITS applications (Lind, G.).
