An overview is given of the outcome of the conference on transportation research held in Brugge, 1973. In general terms, the subject matter covered by the HRB included discussions on the current status and potential of demand-responsive transportation systems, current thinking on the potentials and applications of personal rapid transit systems, discussions of the potentials of dual mode transportation, and application of the accelerating walkway concept.
