The congestion tax, a charge levied at certain times of day on certain vehicles entering and leaving the center of Stockholm, was made permanent inAugust 2007, following a full scale trial during January to July 2006. This allows for the opportunity to compare the situation before the tax was introduced, the impacts of the 7-month trial, the situation after the congestion tax was suspended, and the impacts of the permanent tax. This paperpresents an analysis of the results of the impacts of the congestion tax for the region’s transport system, based on the City of Stockholm's monitoring program.
