This report presents a discussion of the impact that innovations in road systems and telecommunications will have upon freeways and urban planning. The first part of the report is devoted to an overview of the motor vehicle and its infrastructure between the years 2000-2020. The second part summarises the state of the art in telecommunication oriented road research in progress. The third part presents three opposable scenarios based upon road pricing and road information options. The paper concludes with a discussion of the consequences of long range evolution of road supply for urban and regional "master" planning. (Author/publisher)
