Samenvatting

Statistical data of pedestrian accidents show the need for a practicable standard test for improving the vehicle design for better pedestrian protection. Although many problems are still open, a step to step approach can be realized. It can be concluded that under the chosen test methodology, presented in this paper, the variations of dummy loadings are in the same range as in other established standardized car impact tests. For the next future a combination of full scale and body segment impactor tests seems to be practicable.
