Control of traffic flows on rural (roads and motorways) networks and methods of measuring the levels of service.

It is shown that, on a European level, problems of capacity and levels of service on roads and motorways arise during the seasonal migrations that occur periodically due to vacations and public holidays. The only means available relate to a better use of time and space, staggering departures, using alternative routes, and information systems.
