A summary is presented of an one-day Symposium on Coping with heavy vehicles. The damage of road surfaces done by heavy lorries with an axle load above 10 tons, as proposed by the ECE, the sociological and engineering size of the problem of heavy vehicles, and the design of vehicles for heavy transports were mentioned.
