Samenvatting
This paper summarizes the injury criteria proposed for car occupant protection at the time of writing. The development of the head injury criterion (H.I.C.) over recent month is discussed in relation to the underlying biomechanical justification. Suggestions are made for other injury criteria which might be developed, and finally the problem of establishing criteria appropriate to the variation in injury tolerance among road user is mentioned.
