Cost-effectiveness and safety of alternative roadway delineation treatments for rural two-lane highways. Volume I: executive summary.

The effect of various delineation treatments on accident rates was assessed by analyzing accident data from more than 500 roadway sites in 10 States for tangent, winding and isolated horizontal curve sections two-lane rural highways. Cost-benefit and cost models for evaluating specific delineation treatments were developed and guidelines formulated by executing the cost-benefit for selected delineation treatments. This volume briefly presents an overview of the conduct of the study and results.
