Samenvatting

This report from the project Accident Costs for Project Planning and Evaluation provides costs per accident for nineteen accident-type groups for use in projects where the frequency of accidents will be altered significantly by the countermeasure implemented. Costs per person for the five casualty classes used on accident reports have also been determined and they should be used on projects where the severity of the injury will be altered without there necessarily being any change in accident frequency. Tabular information has been provided which can be used to derive the costs for various accident-types in any state despite the variation in accident reporting requirements. This is subject to the data being classified according to the Model Guidelines for Accident Data and Accident-types ARRB ATM 29, IRRD no. 831285 and the ratio of reported damage accidents to casualty accidents known for each accident-type group in urban and rural areas. The core of the outcomes used to determine these tables was a combination of New South Wales and Victorian outcomes which gives pseudo national results.
