Samenvatting

The author outlines the steps being taken by manufacturers to develop the crashworthiness of automobiles, thereby pointing out that there are limits imposed by economic considerations which in turn restrict the amount of crashworthiness that can realistically built into a vehicle. Therefore, a more practical method of making vehicles more crashworthy is to undertake programs which focus their efforts on all three facets of highway safety which are the driver, the vehicle, and the road.
