This issue of Current Topics in Transport includes over 60 abstracts of some of the published literature (reports, conference papers, books and journal articles) on vehicle design for occupant protection, with items on crashworthiness ratings, test procedures, studies of occupant injuries, simulation of deformation and intrusion of vehicle structures during side impact, offset frontal and frontal impacts, as well as studies on the effectiveness of occupant protection devices such as seat belts and airbags. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1993 and 1996. Much of the relevant English language literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database.
