This issue of Current Topics includes over 60 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on vehicle design for occupant protection, with items on crashworthiness ratings, test procedures, studies of occupant injuries, simulation of deformation and intrusion of vehicle structures during side, front and rear impacts, as well as studies on the effectiveness of occupant protection devices such as seat belts and airbags. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1996 and 1999. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included, some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database. The previous edition, Current Topics in Transport CT 48.1 (see C 6662 S), covered abstracts of articles added to the database from 1993-1996.
