Samenvatting

A review and discussion of available research on the effectiveness of driver training. The paper examines issues identified in research on driver training and education with respect to subsequent safety. It agrees that vehicle control skills training is counter-productive, but concludes that there is support in existing research for some form of post-licence education, particularly with respect to cognitive and attitudinal/motivational matters.
