Two methods are used to assess the risk of internal head injuries when the head hits the windscreen. Those two methods the Wayne University or Gadd method and the Vienna Institute of Technology method, are based on diametrically, opposed concepts concerning the cerebral injury process. The methods are examined and discussed in this paper.
