Samenvatting

Motor vehicle crash (MVC) mortality is a major cause of death in industrialized countries throughout the world and is also becoming a significant concern in developing nations. Cross-national studies analyzing MVC mortality rates and the characteristics of MVC victims may identify reasons for variation in mortality between different nations. Subsequently, countermeasures could be developed which could limit MVC mortality or facilitate the implementation of interventions in one country which have been successful in another. The purpose of this scientific poster presentation is two-fold: (1) to demonstrate a method for cross-national comparison of MVC mortality data: and (2) to compare the preventable preventable death rate and characteristics of preventable deaths following MVC in rural Michigan and rural Sweden.
