Samenvatting

The types of hazard found in studies of the roadside have proved to cover a much wider range than is found listed in statistical summaries of police reports, since these reports usually only mention roadside hazards when direct impact with specific objects is the chief cause of vehicle damage or occupant injury. Factors discussed other than direct impact include the condition and delineation of pavement edges, obscuration by roadside objects, and causing the impacting vehicle to roll.
