Samenvatting
5 directions of research that exemplify recent trends in traffic psychology in Japan are described: (1) studies on drivers as a key to road safety; (2) understanding of driver behavior; and (3) experimental approaches to driving behaviors, including examination of peripheral vision performance, effects of alcohol on driving, and speed perception in a vehicle. Other areas of traffic psychology are the issue of elderly drivers and environmental aspects that influence driver behavior.
