Samenvatting

The Department of Education has put in place a Traffic Safety Education Teacher Professional Development Program (TSETPDP) which aims to encourage schools to increase their usage of TSE resources and activities. The TSETPDP is a professional development program designed to support schools and teachers to include TSE in the school curriculum to achieve relevant student outcomes outlined in the Curriculum and Standards Framework. It will deliver training, professional development, and resources to teachers in all school sectors. A key component of the TSETPDP is the development of a district network strategy to deliver professional development at the local level. This program has resulted in the selection of 59 TSE District Network Leaders throughout Victoria who, in addition to their usual teaching role, will support and encourage TSE in schools and offer advice, assistance, and network activities for teachers in their district. The Department of Education has put in place an evaluation of the effect of the program on TSE and teacher attitudes which is being conducted by the Accident Research Centre (MUARC).
