Cybernetic aids for improving safety, capacity and flow of freeway traffic in Germany.

A cybernetic aid system to improve traffic flow is described. Remote-controlled optically indicated variable mandatory maximum speeds set in accordance with traffic demand have shown positive effects on flow. A still better effect is expected from control of minimum headway.
