Current practice in Great Britain for dealing with the key problem of getting a cycle route safely across other roads and through junctions are explained. It approaches the sub- ject by dividing crossings into two broad classifications. The general emphasis is on design schemes which are costeffec tive, improve the safety and convenience of cyclists and are compatible with the needs of pedestrians and vehicle traffic
