This report presents a plan for the development of the Stockholm cycle road network. The plan is presented in text and on maps describing the planned cycle road network. The text describes previous plan proposals, views from organizations and authorities involved, the principles of the plan, connections with other planning, standard, costs and implementation. On the maps the planned parts of the network are described in three categories: (1) new cycle tracks/footways projected in connection with routes, street reconstruction or exploitation, (2) new cycle tracks in parks under the city park administration, (3) new cycle tracks/footways projected with special funds from the budget of the city street department. Total cost for the measures according to category 3 was calculated to 104 milj swcr (1978). From 1977 there is a special grant of 5 milj swcr per year. Consequently the implementation will take 20 years. State subsidies and temporary cycle tracks on the carriageway separated by road markings may reduce implementation time to 15 years. Background factors concerning bicycle use and possibilities are compiled in an appendix. This is intended to produce a basis for a discussion on cycle track construction.
