Das generelle Ziel des EU-Projekts TRACE (TRaffic Accident Causation in Europe) besteht darin, fuer die Wissenschaft sowie fuer Interessenvertreter, Fahrzeugindustrie, Zulieferer und andere Beteiligte des "Integrated Safety"-Programms einen umfassenden Ueberblick ueber die Ursachen von Strassenverkehrsunfaellen in Europa zu geben. Die entsprechenden Analysen basieren auf aktuell verfuegbaren Unfalldaten sowie auf Versicherungs-, medizinischen und Expositionsdaten. Es sollen Risikofaktoren, Risikogruppen sowie spezifische Konflikt- und Unfallsituationen identifiziert, beschrieben und quantifiziert werden. Darueber hinaus soll der Sicherheitsgewinn von ausgewaehlten technologiebasierten Sicherheitssystemen (zum Beispiel Fahrerassistenzsystemen) abgeschaetzt werden. Die Ergebnisse des Projekts werden der Oeffentlichkeit ganz ueberwiegend in Form von Forschungsberichten verfuegbar gemacht. Das Projekt, an dem 16 Partner und 6 Unterauftragnehmer beteiligt sind, ist auf zweieinhalb Jahre angelegt (Januar 2006 bis Juni 2008) und erfordert eine Gesamtbearbeitungszeit von 386 Personenmonaten. (A) ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: The general objective of the TRACE project (TRaffic Accident Causation in Europe) is to provide the scientific community, the stakeholders, the suppliers, the vehicle industry and the other Integrated Safety program participants with a global overview of the road accident causation issues in Europe, and possibly overseas, based on the analysis of all currently available databases which include accident, injury, insurance, medical and exposure data (including driver behaviour in normal driving conditions). The idea is to identify, characterise and quantify the nature of risk factors, groups at risk, specific conflict driving situations and accident situations; and to estimate the safety benefits of a selection of technology-based safety functions. Expected outcomes are essentially reports. The project is to last 2.5 years (January 2006 - June 2008) and involves 16 full partners and 6 sub-contractors for a total of 386 men-months.
