Samenvatting
The use of the bicycle as a local traffic mode in different aspects is studied. Aspects of prevention for air pollution, energy conservation, problems of traffic safety and education are discussed. The accident statistics show an increasing danger for the cyclist during the last 15 years, due to the increasing number of motor vehicles. Recommendations are given for a better layout of cycle tracks and segregation of bicycles and other transport modes.
