Samenvatting

In a lot of European countries, accident statistics show that young drivers are far more traffic accident prone than older ones. Young drivers as moped, motorcycle or car drivers mostly have an accident with the vehicles with which they take part in motorised traffic for the first time, most often they do have an accident with mopeds at the age of 15 to 17 years and with motorcycles or cars at the age of 18 to 20 years. Improving the unfavourable accident situation of young drivers could be: introduction of a phase driving licence for motorcycle riders, improvement of driving school training, reinforcement of safety information and education within schools, self- limitation of the motor industry when making publicity, reinforced trafficcontrol of drunken driving and of unadapted speeding as well as prohibition of technical manipulations of motorised two- wheelers.
