Samenvatting
This article uses the most recent data available to examine the size of the "speeding problem" in the United States. Speeding has been recognised for decades as a significant, and highly complex, safety issue. In this paper, the authors examine information pertaining to crash avoidance and severity as well as related crash characteristics -- alcohol, vehicle type, roadway condition, etc. Of particular interest is the use of an innovative methodology to estimate the economic impact of speed-related crashes.
