This paper deals with current and future actions in the field of collecting, processing and providing of data concerning freight transport to from, within and through the Netherlands. These data are used as base data in the following freight transport models: (1) `Transport Economic Model'; (2) `Traffic Production and Traffic Assignment Model for Inland Waterway'; (3) `Policy Information System for Inland Waterway'; and (4) `Lorry Matrix'. The data are also used in national and regional studies regarding policies on the flow of goods. (A)
