By calculation the reduction in detection range was determined for railway signal lights by application of special types of light-absorbing windows. The calculation showed that this reduction was of no partial significance under all circumstances. Some doubts were raised about the correctness of the presumption that the visibility of the environment would be of minor importance for the conductors' task performance.
