The subject of this report is the presentation of an empirical study. The main hypothesis in this study states that the ability of a moped rider to perform cognitive (traffic) tasks is dependant on the level of experience of the rider with his /her vehicle, the driving speed and the complexity of the infrastructure. Previous to the presentation of the experiment and results an overview will be given of the problem matter concerning the moped rider. The report is concluded with the notion that a traffic safety policy with special attention for moped riders is necessary and that time is running short: the number of accident rates for moped riders are alarming and are still increasing (in Holland).
