Car-availability has a strong influence on travel behaviour. Adaption of a segmentation method to data of the Dutch National Travel Survey has shown that personal car-availability itslef is primarily determined by personal net income, age and sex. The simultaneous influence of these factors on car availability has been determined using a weighted multiproportional Poisson model. Also, the development of car availability in the distinguished population groups has been investigated for the period 1979-1982.
