Samenvatting
Results of a study on the correlation between some highway characteristics and the speed of cars, measured in 1977, are presented. There is a significant correlation with the average speed as well as the 85% speed with the visibility along the axis of the road, with the curvature and with the width of the free traffic lane. For each of these factors a hypothesis in the form of a nonlinear function is designed.
