An analysis of mortality and morbidity statistics reveals that mobile units for coping with accidents on the road and at home, and with acute illnesses should be designed, which would reduce waiting time to a minimum, and be equipped and crewed to give adequate care thus reducing the mortality and morbidity resulting from delay of care considerably. A proposal regarding system of warning, communication and personnel is given. The dimensions and functions of the vehicle, its equipment and stretcher system are discussed. Attention is given to comfort and loading. An analysis of financial aspects shows that the introduction and running of the system is economically justified.
