During long time the recommendations set up by the CIE have been the starting point for the design of lighting installations in traffic tunnels. Due to the changing insight in the different aspects of tunnel lighting the recommendations are reconsidered and in particular those for tunnel entrances. The report presents a problem analysis and a literature review. The report has got the character of a book of reference.
