Samenvatting

HAZOP (HAZard and OPerability) studies can be used for identifying operational problems that result from accepting intelligent transport systems (ITS) in our daily traffic. The method uses a systematic approach to identify deviations from the normal operation. A matrix is defined linking parameters of the traffic system with ITS involved to guide words. For each cell of the matrix (representing a possible deviation) the possible causes, consequences of the occurrence and possible actions have to be discussed by a team performing this study. This paper describes both the method, the possibilities of the method and an example of a partly performed HAZOP study regarding the use of intelligent speed adaptation (ISA).
